Early Childhood Director

Kingdom One is partnered with a discipleship focused church located in Mission Viejo to add an Early Childhood Director to their team!

Vision for this role:

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the Early Childhood Ministry, including Childcare, from the overall mission, vision, and values of the church. This director will serve the church and partner with parents by developing, administering, and overseeing a comprehensive and expanding educational ministry program for children from birth – preschool in the church and the surrounding community while recruiting, leading, and overseeing the children’s ministry volunteers.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is enthusiastic and passionate about children’s ministry.
  • Is able to understand, teach, and live out biblical truths.
  • Has a joyous calling to minister with children and families.
  • Is a self-starter with strong managerial and administrative skills and competence in leading people.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is flexible, accurate, confidential with good follow-up skills.
  • Is computer literate with the ability to learn new programs and applications quickly.
  • Has attention to detail.
  • Has a minimum two years of ministry experience, preferably in children’s ministry.
  • Has a Bachelor’s (preferred) or AA degree or equivalent units in ministry, education, or related field.
  • Has a strong, growing relationship with Jesus Christ that is evident in personal and professional life.


What you’ll do:

●  Develop relationships with parents of children, coming alongside them and inspiring them in their role as their child’s primary teacher.
●  Equip parents with biblical resources.
●  Enlist, equip, empower and encourage a volunteer team that leads to their personal and spiritual growth.
●  Build community among the team through fellowship opportunities on the weekends.
●  Lead Childcare with the volunteer team for church events, like the monthly Prayer Night and Starting Point lunch for visitors as well as the Wednesday morning MOPS program.
●  Create an engaging Sunday morning experience for children with age-appropriate interactive activities using Orange curricula and other resources.
●  Responsible for weekly scheduling and communication with the volunteer team, ensuring that all classrooms maintain proper adult/child ratio and ensuring that it is child-friendly, parent-friendly, clean, and safe.
●  Communicate with Family Life Pastor and Elementary Director, Pastors, and other key staff from the church, School, and Preschool.
●  Meet weekly with the Family Life Pastor for encouragement, reporting, planning, and vision.

●  Prepare necessary supplies so leaders have what is needed to be successful.
●  Maintain office, ministry resources and storage areas in an organized manner.
●  Assist, delegate, and oversee set-up and tear-down of ministry environments as needed.
●  Assist in the planning, recruiting, directing, and leading of Vacation Bible School as necessary.
●  Be a “cheerleader” for the values and strategies of Family Ministry.
